Rincon De La Victoria is a typical seaside resort however it attracts a predominantly Spanish crowd.

  31. Do I need a car for a holiday on the Costa Del Sol?

    Public transport is fantastic on the Costa Del Sol so a car is not essential at all. The exception to this would be if you are staying in a smaller village inland. Also some people who are staying in resorts such as Marbella, that are far from the airport and not on the train network, often tend to hire a car. Car hire can sometimes work out cheaper than a return taxi.

    There are several car hire companies at Malaga airport including: Malaga Airport Car Hire, Herz and SIXT

    It is generally much cheaper to pre-book your car in advance. We recommend searching on TravelSuperMarket – advanced rates are generally 30% less and you don’t run the risk of the cars being fully booked (it does happen in peak season).

    You will also find many car hire rental offers locally in all of the major resorts or be able to get one delivered to your hotel. This is a good option if you do not need a car for the full duration of your trip.

  33. Is public transport cheap on the Costa Del Sol?

    Public transport is reasonably cheap on the Costa Del Sol, especially compared to major cities in places like the UK.

    There are over 50 bus lines and the fare is just 1.30 euros. All of the bus lines are ran by just the one company, EMT – and they offer a discount if you buy 10 tickets at once on an EMT card (available at tobacco shops only).

    The Underground cost depends on how many zones you need to cover. For example; a return ticket from Malaga to Fuengirola would cover 4 zones and cost 5.40 euros.     Taxis are reasonably priced and cheap to get about. Not all taxis will have a meter so you may need to agree a fare in advance (the taxi will have a booklet with set fares that are set from the town hall.

    Yes Uber does operate on the Costa Del Sol. They are not massively cheaper than taxis, however, the drivers do tend to drive very luxury modern vehicles compared to taxis. They can also be handy if you haven’t got local currency or if you are not quite sure how to explain where you want to go in Spanish. Uber will pick you up from the airport, but will not be cheaper than the taxis already waiting.
